Who We Are ?

Established in 1981, the IACP identifies, develops and maintains professional standards of excellence in counselling and psychotherapy through education, training and accreditation. In promoting best practice and the professional development of its members, IACP holds at its core the protection of the public. Representing both the interests of clients and practitioners (over 3,500 nationwide), IACP provides a telephone referral helpline, an information service; and an online counsellor / psychotherapist / supervisor directory. IACP is a registered Charity (CHY 6615).
What We Do ?

We represent the interests of both client Counsellor / Psychotherapist in Ireland. We act as a link between those who are looking for Counselling / Psychotherapy and those who provide Counselling / Psychotherapy.
Referral

We provide a comprehensive telephone referral helpline to potential clients throughout Ireland. This service is for individuals, couples, children, teenagers, families, professionals, and organisations and involves providing the caller with the details of the Counselling / Psychotherapists service that is provided by our Accredited Counsellors / Psychotherapists nearest to them.

Some of the problem areas thus covered are: addictions, AIDS, anxiety, bereavement, depression, eating disorders, illness, relationships, physical and sexual abuse, stress and many others.

We provide Counselling / Psychotherapy referral services for employees in the public and private sector, assisting management and workers to promote health in the workplace.
On-line Directory of IACP Accredited Counsellors and Psychotherapists

The Directory of IACP Accredited Counsellors and Psychotherapists is also a valuable referral tool. It has an extensive coverage over the North, South, East and West of Ireland. It is currently used by the Medical, Law and Teaching professions, Health Boards, Gardaí, Social Workers, Kindred Organisations and members of the public.
