Heart disease is one of our nations biggest killers – combined with stroke it accounts for up to 40% of deaths in Ireland! However, when surveyed, only 14% of the population could name more than one of the main symptoms of heart failure.

The survey concluded that there was a dangerous level of “ignorance and confusion” regarding the matter. Some people, due to age, genetics or gender are more predisposed to heart disease. However, three of the main attributing lifestyle factors related to developing heart that can disease which can be altered are:

  • Unhealthy diet
  • Lack of exercise
  • Smoking
